GIS for Oil & Gas Exhibit Floor Sells Out a Record Five Months Before Show Start
Abstracts for This Event Are Due Today, April 6

Aurora, Colo., April 6, 2009—With more than five months to conference start, the Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) is very pleased to announce that the exhibit floor for its 2009 GIS for Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition has sold out. The event is set for Sept. 13-17, 2009, at the Marriott Westchase Hotel in Houston, Texas.

This is a new accomplishment for the association, as the show floor has never sold out this quickly. In 2008, the exhibit floor sold out three months before the show started. Unfortunately, because of Hurricane Ike, last year’s show was canceled. The conference committee, GITA Board of Directors, and staff, are confident that this is the first of many great accomplishments for the 2009 event. GITA invites vendors who didn’t make it onto the exhibit floor to sign up for the waiting list for the exhibit hall, and stay updated on additional marketing opportunities at http://www.gita.org/oilgas.

This growing conference consistently experiences record-breaking attendance every year. Attendees in 2009 can meet with a total of 67 exhibitors, take part in a program full of new geospatial solutions for oil and gas professionals, and network with top thought leaders in both the geospatial and oil and gas disciplines.

“This is a great morale boost for the committee as we prepare to choose abstracts and build the program for the 2009 event,” said Rex Schrunk, 2009 GIS for Oil & Gas Conference chair and chief engineer, Kansas City Ops, at Willbros Engineers, Inc. “It was a tough but unavoidable decision to cancel last year’s event, and we’re looking forward to making the 2009 conference the best one yet!"

The committee is still taking abstract submissions for the conference. To submit your ideas or for more information, please visit gita.org/oilgas.
